Schminke House is a
large and complex house by Hans Scharoun and it was completed in 1933 for Fritz
Schminke and his wife Charlotte and their four children, it is situated in a
small town Lobau, Saxony; around 124 miles from Berlin, Germany.
It is accessed from
the south and the street façade is relatively closed, the opposite front has
windows from floor to ceiling. The main floor is composed of functional parts
of the house like the kitchen, dinning room and living area. The second floor is
mostly guestrooms and bedrooms of the family, along a single hall ending in a
roof terrace.
Hans Scharoun was as
German Architect best known for designing the Schmike House and the Berlin
Philharmonic Concert Hall. He was an important exponent of organic and
expressionist architecture.
